On 10 March 2026, PAGASA's STC was privileged to have been invited to the Congressional Briefing on Energy Outlook chaired by Rep. Jose C. Alvarez of the Cong. Committee on Energy.

STC attended in behalf of PAGASA & the PRA and was the only individual from the private sector invited for this Briefing. He was invited as a resource person as was DOE Sec. Garin, NEDA's Sec. Arsenio Balisacan and other representatives from DTI, BSP, DA, DFA, DENR, DOH, etc. The Briefing explored the possibility of providing the President of the country emergency powers to suspend or decrease excise and/or VAT on fuels temporarily while conflict in the Middle East seems unresolved and is escalating.
