After the Higher Education Summit last year also held at Shangrila Mactan by the Phil. Bus. for Education (PBEd) and funded by the U.S. AID, the 2nd Summit: “Taking the Next Steps” invited top brass industrialists who sit on the Industry Academe Council together again with Presidents of major universities to participate on Day Two>1/24/14.  Objective is still to align graduates with industry’s needs. PAGASA’s STC was fortunate enough to be seated right in the center of the plenary hall with Messrs. Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and Ramon del Rosario, Jr.(PBEd Chairman) right in front of him. He wasalso tasked to be co-facilitator with Dr. Paulino Tan, Pres. of Asia Pacific College in the workshop on Technical/Vocational Education which was later on attended by Mr. Ayala, Jerry Roxas Foundation’s Vicky Garchitorena and IBM Pres. Mariels Almeda- Winhoffer. This Summit was supposed to take place every two years but PBEd didn’t want to waste time and momentum and followed it up immediately with one this year.

PAGASA Joins QCCI Petition on QC Tax Increase PAGASA Joins QCCI Petition on QC Tax Increase PAGASA Joins QCCI Petition on QC Tax Increase Held on Jan.23,2014, PAGASA was invited to join the QC Chamber of Commerce & Industry protest headed by Dr. Carl Balita regarding the "unreasonable" increasein business taxes. QC's Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte-Alimurung,Admin. Aldrin Acuña and City Treasurer Edgar Villanueva attended the said Meet which was supported by PCCI Pres. lfredo Yao. PAGASA, as represented by Dir.Desmond Chua (long sleeves at end of table), is appealing together ith other Industry Associations to the QC Government to reconsider said increase in taxes. The public officials said they will study the appeal even as increased rates were already collected for 1/Q.
