CONSUMER WELFARE MONTH FOR 2016 PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 30 September 2016
Every October has been designated as Consumer Welfare Month by the Office of the President. Agencies involved in the National Consumer Affairs Council (NCAC) take turns acting as Lead Agency in preparing for activities for this Month.  This year, it is Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) which is the Lead Agency.  As such, Ceremonial Opening for Consumer Welfare Month was done on 30 Sept. 2016 at the Assembly Hall of the BSP; starting with the Parade of Flags and ending with ribbon-cutting ushering in the start of activities for this month-long Affair.  PAGASA was represented by its Pres. Steven Cua/Welcome Supermart and its Directors Fred Gravador/Simplicity Ministop (in black shirt) and Edna Ontiveros/Candice Megamart in Tuguegaro.  They took the opportunity to have a photo-op with BSP Governor Armando Tetangco, Jr. (voted 7x as One of the World’s Top Central Bankers by NY-based Global Finance Magazine) and Keynote Speaker Sen. Grace L. Poe-Llamanzares. They also checked out the exhibits including that of “Consumer Rights for Safe Food” which was one of the presenters at the Symposium attended by STC just 3 days earlier on Organic & Safe Foods.

RETAIL SECURITY & SAFETY SEMINAR
Held as part of the PRA’s Retail Excellence Seminar Series this Seminar on Retail Security and Safety focused on the various frameworks introduced by speaker (Ret.) Col. Felipe H. Buena, Jr./Sr.-AVP for Customer Relations Service of SM Retail, Inc.  Frameworks are charts that serve as guides in the handling of a crisis: its application and its policy formulation; of fire/earthquake/armed robbery and bomb threats. The Store Emergency Management Org’l. Chart was discussed to stress the importance of proper execution in one’s chain of command and a quick and more efficient response in times of emergency.   The course reminds participants to align Administrative and Operations Department with one’s Security Dept. to properly address security concerns.  Advancement of technology in security equipment and continuous training are two essential elements in coming up with a good security program in one’s retail outlet. PAGASA’s P.R.O. Desmond Chua and Member of the Board Edna Ontiveros attended this whole day event.
