CLIMATE CHANGE, EARTHQUAKES, TYPHOONS & FROZEN PRICES PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 02 October 2025

As a result of earthquakes which hit Vis-Min in late October 2025, Malacanang calls for a Price Freeze not only in affected areas but nationwide.

PAGASA reacts as the previous 3-month Price Freeze was just lifted on 21 October 2025 (due to earlier typhoons) and now a new Price Freeze is to take effect starting 4 November 2025! Connected together, this results in a price freeze practically lasting half a year! "Where has free enterprise and free market forces at play gone in a capitalistic economy like the Phils.? Price Freeze is supposed to be a short-term tool applied to provide consumers especially victims of a calamity a breather after said misfortune; not something to be used whole-year round to please the buying public." It was most fortunate that the mountain ranges up north (Cordilleras, Serra Madre, Caballes) blocked the wrath of super typhoon Uwan from unleashing the full force of its wrath in Metro Manila. Relief goods operations from various sectors including those by the Foundation put up by PAGASA Member Prince Retail Group's VisMin outlets immediately went into action after Uwan hit the country.
