The Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association (PAGASA) held its first quarterly general meeting of the year at the Italianni's Restaurant in Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City.

During the meeting, PAGASA President Steve Cua, updated the members on developments in the industry as well as government issues that will affect everyone. Among these are the senate bills on shoplifting, exact change, senior citizen discounts and the VAT increase.

With the leaving of our vice president, Edgardo Madrazo, the Board of Directors voted Mr. Roy Chua as the interim vice president until the next election in September. Mr. Chua will take on the responsibility of attending meetings with government departments such as the Department of Trade and Industry and give a voice to the supermarket industry.

After dinner and the updates, the host for the evening, Ripple E-Business International, Inc., introduced its company profile as well as a brief introduction to its merchandise management system called Barter. Ripple has been in the software development for 5 years and was originally been developing customized systems for different retailers, distributors and manufacturers. So far, they have 64 clients which included Western Marketing, their first client, and their biggest outlet, Lee Super Plaza with 80 POS terminals.
