In addressing the rising cost of bread/pastries, PhilBaking>the Association of Bakers supplying more than 70% of the supermarkets’ bread requirements together with three other Bakers’ Groups launched the Pinoy Pandesal to cater to the masses in search of the affordable pandesal. |

Others in the panel were from the American Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Joint Chambers of Commerce & Industry. STC gave his stand on why he thinks global retailers do not find our country attractive as an investment site. |

PAGASA Donate foods to typhoon Pedring & Quiel Victims |

In response to the non-receding floodwaters of Bulacan and Pampanga due to typhoons Pedring & Quiel, PAGASA decided to donate ready-to-eat biscuits to those left on rooftops and easy-to-prepare foodstuff for victims living in evacuation centers. On 2 Oct. 2011, STC handed the food donations to Pinoy Power Institute represented by Mae Paner (in pink) and Ruby Gamboa (checkered blouse) assisted by the staff of Sen. Kiko Pangilinan>Renan Dalisay and Kina Santillan who will bring the goods kjkz o the affected areas. |

PAGASA decided to stop the retail clock and went on an industrial-cum-R&R tour of Puerto Princesa in the beautiful province of Palawan where two of its members, Andrew Grocery and Drugman Supermarket operate. From 23-25 Sept. 2011, the delegation of eighteen checked out the retail scene aside from live dolphins, crocodiles, mangroves, fireflies and natural rock-climbing/spelunking in the natural splendor of Palawan. On its 25th Year, the Philippine Amalgamated Supermarkets Association (PAGASA) organizes a Conference called “Supermarkets Uprising!” describing the number of new supermarkets up and rising as of late. Held on 2 Sept. 2011 at the World Trade Center as part of the new event Grocery Asia, the Association traced its roots during the heyday of EDSA Revolution the reason for its acronym and yellow-colored logo. |

PAGASA booth at Grocery Asia ‘11, the newest event within Food & Drinks Asia which ran from Sept. 1-4. Now on its 25th year as an Industry Association, PAGASA showed the vintage pictures and newspaper ads on Sales Promotions back in 1989 when prices of goods belonged to a different era!

PAGASA is invited to a meeting in Congress on 27 bills concerned with amendments for the Consumer Act of the Phils. It is chaired by the Committee on Trade & Industry under Rep. Albert S. Garcia (in white under the Seal of the House of Representatives) and joined by at least ten other Congressmen. Other Sponsors of Bills included Reps. Rufus Rodriguez, Arthur Yap and Diosdado Macapagal-Arroyo on topics ranging from food safety, labeling, profiteering, credit cards/prepaid cards, toy safety, timbangan ng bayan, economy airline charges to Trans Fat in food. |
